how to prevent tiling on background images

Im trying to put a background image on a front page website im creating. Nut
the BI is tiling and I dont know what to do. Please HELP I've tried
everything i know and everything i get told and still cant prevent it from
happening.

Try putting this in the <head> section

<style type="text/css">

{background: url('xxx.jpg') no-repeat }
</style>
where xxx.jpg is your image - you may need a directory path to it

According to http://www.w3schools.com/css/pr_background.asp , it should
work.
