Hi, i have a few windows (2k, xp) machines in a wireless home
network and I´'d like to share hardware.
Is there a way to play audio cds and dvds over a mounted
network drive .. So far I did not find a clue how to do this
You see e.g. a cd file image - but the players do not work
with no qualified error message ...

Anybody who has made a similar thing work`?

Thanks

Wolfgang

I did it by setting the drive... for example the cdrom drive on comp. A to
be a shared drive... I then put a disc in the drive and map the driver on
comp. B... works fine for me...

what do you mean by "map the driver" - what I did is mount the drive
ob comp B and that did not work ...
Thanks, Wolfgang

He meant 'map the drive' - this may or may not be necessary. You need
client side software - eg. Windows Media Player or whatever the music/video
file requires, in order to play the CD/DVD on the client machine. However,
you should have no other problems playing files from a shared drive on
another machine provided you have access to the shared drive.
