I am forming a front page for a newsletter and want to setup several photos,
in different sizes but they keep changing position. How to set them
permanently and then type over some of them?

If you _must_ use Word, you might try creating a table and placing your
photos in individual cells. To type over them you would have to use a text
box, probably. If this is something you are going to do on a regular basis,
you are best off investing in a different program (such as Publisher, As
JoAnn suggested).

For your own peace of mind, *please* heed the advice of JoAnn & Ed - do your
layout work in a layout program, *not* a word processor. Although
specifically written pertaining to Mac Word the following also applies
equally to the PC version:

If you _must_ use Word, put the images in the Header with Text Wrapping set
to Behind Text. That's about as close as you can get to "locking" them in
place. Don't worry that they appear to be 'faded' in Print Layout view,
they'll print in full color as displayed in Print Preview. You can then
overlay the images with Text Boxes.

Great article, Bob! I learned some things.

In the ~Header~!! Makes sense - then the text on your "page" won't affect
their position.

But don't you have to create a separate section for each different header
with photos and turn off "Same as Previous", or get photos repeating on
every page?
