I get messages of a personal and private nature in Outlook on a network
server which I only want selected staff to see. I want to save them in such
a way so that only the selected staff can open them using a password
assigned to the message rather than mess with private folders which aren't
suitable. It is on a government server so it isn't possible to download
add-ins or third party stuff because there aren't any permissions. I can't
find anything in any of the Outlook forums or in Google. Am I doing 'Mission
Impossible'. Does anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

Actually, you're trying Mission: Completely Impossible, based on my
little knowledge. The only thing I can suggest is that you edit the mail
profile from control panel on the machine to ask for username and
password when you load outlook.

There's no way to password-protect individual messages or folders in
Outlook.

Thanks to you both.

I have had a thought and I am going to try saving the messages to a folder
in a winzip compressed file and try to password protect the winzip file. I
think this might work.

Get an e-mail certificate (Thawte has free ones). Send e-mails that are
digitally signed by you to whomever you want to send you encrypted
mails. They use your public key to encrypt their mails. Only you with
your private key can read them.

WinZip's protection is easily compromised. There are tons of freely
downloadable tools that will do it.
