How to partition RAID 0 PC?

Hi,

I have recently acquired a new PC, with 2 hard disks
configured in RAID 0.

Windows XP Pro was pre-installed.

I have since used Partition Magic to create new partitions
in the usual way.

First off, I am wondering whether all the partitions are
getting the benefit of the RAID configuration, or whether
it is necessary to do anything different?

Secondly, the time is going to come, (soon!) when I will
want to reformat Drive C & install a fresh copy of
Windows.

I have a suspicion that this will lead to the loss of the
RAID configuration & perhaps the other partitions & data,
but I am not sure.

Assuming an "empty" pair of disks, I am seeking guidance
on the best order in which to carry out the
reinstallation, e.g. create new RAID configuration,
followed by new partitions, then install OS, or what?

Thanks

for one thing, when you do re install xp make sure you have your 3rd party
raid drivers ready to hand on a floppy otherwise windows xp will report that
it cannot find any hard drives.

Steve: thanks for the tip, I have the RAID drivers on FD
ready to be "F6ed" in during the setup process.

Why RAID 0?

The only reason I can think of is for improved speed. If so what are you
doing that requires so much disk bandwidth?

Steve: yes, speed is precisely the reason, mainly to help
with loading some large programs such as video editing
software, not to mention saving the rather large files
produced! Also helpful with some games that I have...

Much more interested in performance rather than redundancy!

Ah now I understand :)

The 'Klingon' method of computing: "Live fast and die gloriously" :)

Back up regularly!
