i need to modify some default registry value under "hkey_current_user"
for several my "user accounts" and also the "administrator account".
however, when i select "Registry Data" under those components, the
"Add" option is disabled.

how would i do this? should i just add a script in "documents and
settings/defalut user" after FBA process, and those registry changes
will be applied when the users log in for the first time.

oh, i only want those changes applied once.

thanks!

mike,

Components you mentioned below were created and released by Microsoft. For release components TD doesn't allow to add registry data
or files or etc.
You would need to create your own component to bring reg.data or use TD Extra Registry Data node in your Config.

Depending on the changes you are making you may want to try to set in under [HKUS\.Default] branch to apply to all accounts.

KM,

i tried to change the key value under "HKUS\.default", then rebooted my
computer, it didn't work.

the key i changed was "HKSU\.defalut\control
panel\desktop\AutoEndTasks", i changed it to 1 instead of default 0,
setting this value to 1 will allow the system to shut down without the
"End Program" dialog.

since it didn't work, i have to log in as different user and change
that key under "HK_Current_User".

thanks

Keep in mind that the .default branch is used when an account is created.
Think of it as the template copied when creating a new account. Changing
..default won't necessarily updated existing account registry branches.

Gordon,

i created another user account "test" after modifying the
"HKUS\.default", however, after i loggin as "test", the change in
"HKUS\.default" was not applied in "HKEY_Current_User", is there a way
i can force it to apply the settings under "HKUS\.default"??

thanks

mike,

I actually meant you should add those registry entries in TD, not at runtime.
As Gordon already pointed out, Default branch would only be used while a creating a new user.

It doesn't apply to all the registry keys under .Default branch. Some will be overwritten there by Windows components.

There are lots of ways to automate changing or adding new reg entries to all user branches at run time (e.g., using reg.exe). But
settings .Default entries in TD would be the easiest.
