Just finished at 2:06 my time (it is now 2:25 my time). burning onto a CD
took a mere 3 min. 25 seconds. How the heck do I open it?

Ideally you need a burner that will burn an iso file into something
that looks sensible on a CD. I don't know of a freeware burner that
will do this
Failing that, you need an app that will extract an iso file for you so
you can view/burn the contents.
Isobuster springs to mind. There will be others.

Be patient a day or two :-)

<Q>
This utility is used to burn an ISO file to a CD/DVD disc. Many new
systems come with a limited CD/DVD software package which lacks the
ability to burn .ISO files.

I just used CDBurnerPro with XP! 1st unzipped them, there are a few things you have
to
read and check when dealing with it in XP. Anyway, like I said, I have it, but I'm
not
sure how I got it...e.g., I went thru a maze...so I cannot tell you the exact steps I
took to
get it...nonetheless, using the pricelessware program mention above, I got it.

I can burn thousands of copies of this with my Ahead Nero. The trouble is,
I can't read anything on the disk; XP cannot open them.

I'm using XP and I can read them....but they aren't ISO ...
I copied to HD folder ... then extrated them...then dragged them along
with CDBurnerPro onto the CD...then ran 'em.

I did experience a problem with needing a 'password'. LOL!

Anyway, it stated that Freeware2005 (my title for it) required a PW.
I just opened it.. after a few tries. This is the first time using CDBurnerPro
so I wasn't sure what I was doing...anyway, someway, somehow, I have
it and XP reads it here.

I have Dell junk on here...so who knows what it went through to get to
the final take.

Hi PuppyKatt,

You should have 3 emails from me (2 are just copies of posted info).

Susan

Here's what's on my CD:

Folder 2005
Folder acf
gif 2005
gif 2005head_blu
jpg2005PL-CDcover
Setup Info autorun
Appl dvdsig
site Index
Text doc ProgramList
Text doc readme
Appl shellexe

Each folder has contents.

I got the emails, Susan. Call me a dummy, but do these programs merely BURN
them, which I can already do, or can they "make sense" of what I have
downloaded and burned? Is this an XP problem, were they made with some new
program, or have I had a serious brain fart? I remember the 2004 CD that
you sent me (I still have it), and all I had to do was pop it into either my
CD-RW or DVD drive, and it auto-started, and away we went. Even the ISO was
no problem. What is do different this year?

Thanks Susan. I'm still learning. And will still need a cy of the CD.

It was my bad - I didn't think about the name causing confusion - I have
renamed the file from 2005PL-CD.zip to 2005PL-CDwebpages.zip

BTW - I completely agree with you about asking questions - *alway* ask.

We both learned something this time. :)

I think they know how to "make sense" of the download.

Last year I sent you a "regular" CD. This year you downloaded an "image"
of a CD. I think it's sort of like OCR. A text *image* is not *text* and
an image of a CD is not the same as a "regular" CD.

I think programs that can handle an ISO image know the difference
between the two - you have to tell them what you have and then they will
know what to do with it. I think some programs simply don't know there
are such things as ISO images. They assume everything is a "regular" CD
and proceed on that assumption.

This is mainly *guesswork*. If there are any experts around I hope
they'll jump into this thread with solid information.

Susan

I will give it a try. If I remember correctly, though, I did mention image
and ISO when I burned the download. Maybe my Nero needs updating. I will
let you all know how it went. Thanks.

You can also mount the iso file as a virtual cdrom with DAEMON Tools:
http://www.daemon-tools.cc/ . That's good for when you don't want a coaster.

Karen
http://scootgirl.com/

Then after mounting the iso file then go to nero and it will see it as a
generic cd/dvd and use Nero wizard to copy it

BINGO!!! The ISO one still cannot be used beyond a coaster, unless someone
wants a freebie, but when I followed the advice from the
http://www.linuxiso.org/viewdoc.php/neroburning.html link, then popped it
into my drive, clicked Start/Run/my ROM drive, then clicked the Files icon,
I got the A-B-C files, and I am now a happy idiot. Thanks so much Bambam,
Susan, and others who assisted.

So, I am taking burning requests; you know the drill. I will be ready to
mail them out at month's end, when I get my next disability cheque.
