How to open files with extension: .PCX.txt ?

Rec'd 7 files via Email of genealogy info from Slovenia.
Files have extension: .PCX.txt
..
Sender said," You must open with MS PAINT. You can find
all you need"

I'm not able to open any of the files with MS Paint,
Word, Notepad, Wordpad, or Excel.
I am using MS XP Professional. Don't know what sender is
using. Also don't know significance of apparent double
extension.

Help! How can I open these files?

Install Irfanview, a free utility that can handle this and most other image
files.

delete the .txt part of the extension and see if it will open in paint with
just the.pcx extension.
