Does anyone know which screws to remove in order to open a Sharp Actius
MV12W notebook? I'm trying to upgrade the hard drive but there's no
lever to flip to pull it out, and there's no OBVIOUS way to get to the
computer's guts. Please help!!
Thanks.

This review of your notebook states that the hard drive is not
user-accessible. That probably means you would have to remove at least
the keyboard to get at it. Unless you are familiar with disassembling
notebooks, the possibility of damage is high and replacment parts are
very expensive and hard to find. So it might be wiser to stand the cost
of taking it to a specialist service centre.

Thanks John, but I do have some experience. I'm confident that if I
just knew which screws were the magic screws, I'd be successful. This
guy has a photo of his MV12W opened up. But he won't write me back and
tell me his secrets! :)

replace the screen on it a few months after purchase, and they sent it
back with the WiFi antenna disconnected. So even the pros are prone to
goof sometimes. Plus I'm not excited about leaving all my sensitive
data, even if the drive is wiped, in the hands of strangers who know
how to unwipe it and possibly use it for nefarious purposes.

My warning was based on my own heavy-handed effort to upgrade the memory
in a friend's notebook which resulted in a non-functioning ESC key after
I put the keyboard back.

This page may give you some idea of what is required to get at your
drive. I know it is for a Toshiba and the Sharp case may be completely
different but the drive here is in the same position as yours so the
pictures may give you some idea of how to proceed.

Good luck.
