Is there a way to bookmark or 'save as a favorite' a particular forum?
Or a way to quickly go to "my own posts"?

The email notifications have the link, but I am not always on the computer
where my email is and I would like to get to my posts/questions from my own
"support favorites page".

You should be able, I would think, to go to "your" forum once at each computer you might use. Then use IE browser's Favorites option & select Add to favorites. That would get that one forum into your favorites list.

I'm not familiar enough with the mechanism (if it exists) on the web-based MS forums used to select "my posts". Perhaps someone else will advise you.

Honestly, as long as you know how to use a standalone email client program (capable of doing newsgroups) [programs like Outlook Express], your access to groups & navigation will be much better.

See the following how-to guides

ALEX: How to Subscribe to Newsgroups in Outlook Express

Account name should be a friendly name for your ease of use. any name.
The MS news server name is manes.Microsoft.com
No passwords are needed.

the articles will guide you on how to look for the individual news groups.

Yes , as you use the web-based newsreader(so do I,by the way) visit this:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.aspx

Add it into your Internet Explorer favourites by Favourites->Add to Favourites
Choose the name as you like it.
To see English newsgroups in alphabetical order, naviagate to English and
see.Your post now is in English-Windows XP-New Users Discussions
When you find your post, click on your name and click on "Recent posts by
this user"
