I have a powerpoint slide which gets its info from a huge excel spreadsheet.
To minimize the powerpoint size, I copy and paste the info as an image. Is
there a way to link to the excel spreadsheet and minimize the powerpoint
size? I want to link to excel for the real time update to the slide but I
don't want a huge powerpoint size. Thanks.

Which Version of PowerPoint are you using? You can insert a link to the
Excel by using the insert Object, cerate form file option.

I'm using 2003. If I do the below, will it limit the size of the powepoint?
or will it be the size of the excel file? I'm trying to avoid having a huge
powerpoint size but still be able to update the slide automatically when the
excel is updated. Thanks and I'll try it.

Thank you. I'll try it.

Linking will keep the size of your PPT file quite small but will require that the
original Excel file be available if you want the links to update.

Embedding will normally include the entire XLS file in your PPT (multiple times if
you embed several different chunks of content).
