I have an IBM Thinkpad 760el presently running w2K. I'd
like to remove w2k and reinstall w98. I have tried the
methods published in Q250456. I cannot get any of the
commands to work. I cannot "REMOVE NTFS FILE SYSTEM"
using the method in the article. The article indicates
that one can use Windows 2000 startup disk to invoke the
Recovery Console. I cannot get the recovery console up
using the method described in the article.

Can someone tell me how to remove windows 2000
professional from my system?

Why? Windows 2000 Pro beats Windows 98 in stability by a mile.

I have a problem with windows 2000 professional. I have a
xircom Realport ethernet 10/100 + modem 56 card that I
have been trying to install. I called the company and
they concluded that I have a problem with my operating
system. Therefore, they suggested re-installing w2K
operating system and re-install the drivers for xircom.

Some people have gotten it up and running in W2K even though it isn't
officially supported. I don't believe there are W2K drivers for it but you
could try the NT or 98 drivers and sometimes they actually work. Try a
manual driver install. Point Windows to where the drivers are since you
probably won't get a PnP with this card in W2K. I am pointing to a manual
that will show you how to install under NT. Let me know if it works or not.
