If I click a .jpg in Vista, it won't open when Windows Photo gallery is
the default viewer. Ok with other programs and WPG works fine otherwise.
Wish I still had XP fax viewer...

Maybe the following article will be useful:

If Windows Photo Gallery will not open the
following article may be worth a look:

Thanks. I saw that one before but since gallery does start manually, I
passed it by. However, I'll try rebuilding the database - can't do any
harm!

Nope, that didn't work either. Maybe there's a difference between Photo
Gallery and Live Photo Gallery?

Photo Gallery and Live Photo Gallery?
======================================
The article applies to both...
Photo Gallery is included with the install of Vista.
Live Photo Gallery is a later version that installs
separately but still uses the .pd4 database. The
newest beta version of Live Photo Gallery uses
..pd5.

Maybe if you use the following utility to reset the
associations to original defaults...

File association fixes for Windows Vista

or...
http://www.winhelponline.com/articles/105/1/File-association-fixes-for-Windows-Vista.html

And then...use the instructions in the following article:

Type With a Program in Vista

or...
http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/69758-default-programs.html
(try Method One and Method Two)

Good luck.

Thanks but we tried these at the beginning of the thread. Could the
problem be that the default command is not "Open" but "Preview"?

Sorry...but I have no more ideas.

If you find the fix please share it with this newsgroup.
