I have a Dell Windows XP systems.
It has a S3 Trio 32/64 PCI display adapter and it works fine alone.
When I replace with another S3 Virage DX/GX PCI display adapter. It works
fine.

But when I insert both display adapters into the same system, only the
adapter inserted into the bottom PCI socket works. I see the Windows
Hardware driver for the other adapter is not installed. When I tried to
install the driver, Windows comes back with Unable to install.

What is my problem? Two Display Adapter Hardwares just cannot be installed
into same system?

Thank you.

It all depends on the adapters some will work as dual adapters some don't. Do a search on the
Microsoft Hardware site for dual display adapters to find ones that this will work.

OK, I see. None of S3 display adapter works on multi display then.
Where can I buy a low cost adapter that works then.
Do I have to buy two new adapters or just replace one adapter?

1. Wherever you want to.

2. It's my understanding that the S3 will work as the primary, but NOT
as a secondary. So you would only need one from that list.

I would suggest finding a single card that supports dual monitors. I found
Matrox dual-head cards for CDN$45 or so.

No, you can have up to 10. But those are too old. They just won't work
like that.

If you get cards made after about 2000 you can do the multiple card
thing.

OK, I tried this:

NVIDIA RIVA TNT2 as primary display adapter and it works by itself,

add S3 Virge DX/GX display adapter and this card cannot be installed.

So I guess both cards has to be new generation display adapters.
