How to make picture lighter when playing DVD on my winXP.

Hi all
When playing the firtst film of Tolkiens The Ring on my PC with WInXP the
picture is very dark.
How can I adjust for this? (Why is it happening?)

In Windows Media Player, View>Enhancements>Video Settings...the
Brightness slider *MAY* help

That is if your using WMP.
