How to make my PC boot from a floppy

On my old PC, if I leave a floppy in the diskdrive, the PC will stop and
check to see if it is a boot disk. As far as I can see this PC ignores
anything in the floppy drive and just checks the CD drive for the Windows
Cd. So how could I use eg an Antivirus Boot Disk on floppy?

Evi,

Do you want to keep it from booting without a boot disk. Get a bootdisk from
www.bootdisk.com for W2K. Make a set after you format the disks with FAT32
on your box.

===============
To create setup disks

1.. Insert a blank, formatted, 3.5-inch, 1.44-MB disk into the floppy disk
drive.
2.. Insert the Windows 2000 CD-ROM into the CD-ROM drive.
3.. Click Start, and then click Run.
4.. In the Open box, type d:\bootdisk\makeboot a: (where d: is the drive
letter assigned to your CD-ROM drive), and then click OK.
5.. Follow the screen prompts.
***Important

a.. You will need four blank, formatted, 3.5-inch, 1.44-MB floppy disks.
Label them Setup Disk One, Setup Disk Two, Setup Disk Three, and Setup Disk
Four.
*Note

a.. You can create the setup disks from a computer running any version of
Windows or MS-DOS.

Guess I'm in a foul mood. Stock market didn't treat me kind today after
burning some $200K, I am venting. Depends what else you want to do. Are you
going to give one each of your family members to tell which one was on the
computer, instead of setting up Users and privileges?

Sorry, I am such a butt head.

Your question has nothing to do with Win2000 - the boot
sequence is set in the BIOS. Read your computer manual
to see how to get into BIOS setup - on many PCs you
must press Del during the boot phase.

Thanks for the instructions, Don. Sorry to hear about your loss on the
stocks. That is depressing. Thanks for finding the time to be helpful.

Ah, yes. I'll have a go at that. Thanks.
