how to make my access ask for user name and password for database

hi

i have a database for employees information

i want to give people PERMISSIONS for this form,

for example , when i open the database file it will ask me for user name and
password ill enter my info it will open for view and edit etc.

and when it opens on other computer it will ask him for user name and pass
when he put it he can only view not edit.


i have alot of users


i tried evrything trying to enable this , but didnt work

i even tried user-level security after i heard it will enable user name and
passwords, but still didnt work. i think ididnt know how to deal with it the
way it should be

would i get a simple step by step instructions about doing such a thing

The FAQ is the bible. You need to study it and experiment on dummy files.

User-level security is difficult to get right; it can take several tries.
Be sure to practice on a copy of your database. You didn't mention the
version, but try the step-by-step at www.jmwild.com/AccessSecurity.htm for
your version.

Be absolutely certain that you do the steps in order, and don't miss any.
