Hi All,

Sorry i am new to this side of excel so please excuse my post if it
sounds silly!

I am trying to work out a way i can make links to other work books
simple.

In my table, i need to pull out 5 figures, from 5 different workbooks.

I need to work out how to change X in the below address easy - it goes
upto 5, so it be data 1, period 1 etc..

\\Store\Period\Data\[data X.xls]period X!$A$18

Any help grateful

Thanks

In xl2003 menus, you could use:
Edit|Links|Change Source

Or you could use:
Edit|replace
and replace the string with what you want.

If the sending files are open, you could use =indirect() and build a string that
points at that cell.

If the sending files are not always open, then Laurent Longre has an addin
(morefunc.xll) at:
http://xcell05.free.fr/
or
http://xcell05.free.fr/morefunc/english/index.htm

That includes =indirect.ext() that may help you.
