but is unable to do so

I don't know what specific problem you're having, Anup, so I'll have to
guess here.

SWF files can be inserted into PPT using ActiveX controls.
http://www.flashgeek.com and http://www.indezine.com both have info on how
to do this.

However, the Flash SWF will always play in the foreground of the slide. In
other words, you can't put any text on top of the SWF in PPT. See
http://www.bitbetter.com for a sample presentation which has a Flash SWF on
the slide master. The SWF is in a place where there's no text on the slide.

Another issue to consider is that the PPT Viewers (both the 97 version and
the 2003 version) do not support ActiveX controls, so if the presentation
based on that template will be shown with either Viewer, the Flash SWF
animation won't work.

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

Although it's possible to use Shockwave Flash controls in PowerPoint
(http://support.microsoft.com/?id=291875), you may find that PowerPoint
does not currently support the level of integration with Shockwave Flash
that you are seeking.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it is important to
have improved support for Shockwave Flash in PowerPoint, don't forget to
send your feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).
