How to make an item look like it has been "sent"

OK, this one's a bit weird...

What I want to do is "send" a message to Outlook using Redemption, i.e. so
that it looks like it has been sent by SMTP (principally that it is
read-only, links in HTML body are active and has <- -> message navigation
button on the toolbar). Why not just send it via SMTP you ask? Firstly, I
want to be able to specify an Outlook folder to put the message in and
secondly, SMTP requires configuration.

Any way to do that?

I'm not sure when Dmitry plans to release the new version of Redemption but
you could use that to create an RDOMail item and set its Sent property to
True before it was saved and becomes read-only. That definitely works.
