How to log file transfer activity?

Dear All

Is their any way can we log the file transfer activity on my pc over the
LAN. Any suggestions.

I don't know of any easy built in way. You can enable auditing of object
access and then audit folders but that will generate a ton of seemingly
unrelated events in the security log. Installing something like Sygate
personal firewall [free to try]and disabling the firewall can be useful in
that it has a LOT of logging capabilities including at the packet level
[that is not on by default]. Looking for access on ports 445 and 139 would
give you an idea of who is accessing your computer but you would need to
look in the packet level log to try and figure out what file they accessed.
The nice thing about Sygate is that the columns are sortable. Using "net
statistics server" at the command line will give you a bunch of info on
server activity but not names of users accessing or files - just number of
files accessed, number of attempts denied, kb transfered, etc. --- Steve
