Bill
I got a call from some folks in our dev department stating that
computers in this particular dev domain can not authenticate with each
other.
When I checked out the computer which I beleved was the domain
controller here is what I found:
Lets call the domain devdom.com
1. the server had the domain in dns and tcp/ip was pointed to itself
but it contained none of the AD entries ie _msdcs etc.
2. when I ran dcpromo it was not a DC
3. it was a member server of devdom.com
My suspicion is that someone demoted this server, but I cant explain
how it is still a member of devdom.com
I am hoping someone can give me a suggestion on how I can check for
other domain controllers on the subnet, prior to repromoting this
server.
any suggestions welcome
Thanks,
Bill
