How to link Windows XP and Windows 2000 together in a network?

I am trying to connect my 2 computers (1 has Windows 2000
and the other Windows XP) together in a network to
transfer files between them. I am using Linksys DSL Cable
router since they both share the same cable internet
connection. The internet router works fine but when
trying to access network features on either computer, they
do not display the other computer. How do I go about
linking them together to transfer files between them?

Have you installed file and printer sharing for Microsoft Networks in
the Connection properties and enabled sharing on some files or folders
in each machine. If something is not shared on a machine, it won't show
up in Network places.

Also, unless you dig around in Network Neighborhood, you won't find the
other computer because they most likely aren't in the same Workgroup. Make
sure you use the same workgroups (preferrably something other than windows
default "WORKGROUP").
