How to limit programs on boot?????

I wish to not start everything on computer restart, it takes forever.
I have been told there is a <run> program to do this, but can't find it.

help

Forget the <run> program.. go to each of the icons in turn, and look for
ways to prevent them auto starting.. MSCONFIG should be used as a diagnostic
tool in this instance, not the fix..
