how to "lift" or "raise" web pages

i've seen a page that is on tripod's site that is "lifted or "raised above
the ads such that they aren't displayed. can somebody tell me how to do that
please? i find those ads a wee bit annoying. they take up most of the page
space!

That is a pop-up page. Do a search for pop-up script. I agree - they are
annoying.
