Hi everybody,
my question is:
how can I know for sure if someone has me /has me not in
their contact list?
Am I really in the contact list of all users who appear in
the reverse list under options--->privacy?
Or might some user have canceled me from his list even if
my name still appears in the RL with reference to that
user?

thanks!

One method is to go to Tools>Options>Privacy

Then Right Click on each contact in the list.

If the option to delete is available then that means the contact has removed
you from their own contact list and you can also remove them from yours if
you wish.

Conversely, if the delete option is greyed out then that contact still has
you included in their contact list. You cannot remove that contact before
he/she removes you.

I personally think the option to remove any contact should be available to
everyone without dependencies.

Someone please correct me if any of the above is incorrect.

Regards
Azam

Greetings Dan,

Well there's two way's to know -- the first is going into the Privacy tab and right-clicking
a contact, if the 'Delete' option is available, then you're no longer on their main contact
list. Secondly, you can click the 'View' button in the Privacy tab which should show you
everyone who currently has you on their list.

If you are in the list of persons who have added you to their contact
list, then you are on their list. One way to verify this is to right
click on the person's name in your "Allow" or "Block" list and see if
the option to "delete" them is grayed out or not. If it is grayed out
then you are still on their contact list.

A feature that would be nice in messenger would be the ability to
actually delete someone from your contact list, not just block them.
It is annoying having a huge block list because everyone adds you
thinking you want to chat with them. I have a friend who uses Hotmail
for a business email address and he gets several people a day adding
him to their contact lists. His block list is huge.
