Can anyone tell me how to keep windows messenger from
loading on Windows XP? I don't even want to see it in
the corner with it's little "x".

Turn on the built-in Windows XP firewall. Find it in your network
connections properties under "Advanced"

Rename the Messenger folder in the C:\Program Files\ to something
different. I usually just add a '1' at the end.

Are you posting this because you receive pop up messages? If that's the
case, it's not Windows or MSN messenger, it's the built in messenger
service.

Here's a few links that Bruce Chambers (a helpful individual in this
newsgroup) has posted before about this issue:

Posted 'as is'. If there are any spelling and/or grammar mistakes, they
were a direct result of my fingers and brain not being synchronized or my
lack of caffeine.

Start/Run type msconfig & select startup tab.Look thru it to find msnmsgr &
deselect it.Click apply then close & restart. This should stop messenger
starting.

Or download a copy of XP-Antispy which will allow you to either disable
messenger on startup or remove it completely from your PC.
