I need to know what option to choose in power point that will cause power point to choose original source formatting automatically when copying and pasting. Power Point 2002 has this new smart past button, however i don't what any options I just want it to automatically past the orginal formatting without have to select the smart and past option toolbar

Unfortunately, there's no way to change the default behavior of the smart
paste button.

I'm sure MS's John Langhans will be along shortly with a link and a request
for you to tell the PPT team why this would be a helpful feature for you.
(For what it's worth, I and many others would sure like to see such a
feature as well.)

Elv,

I too wish that there was a setting that gave you a choice to always choose "keep source" or "not" across all microsoft
office products...not just powerpoint

[CRITICAL UPDATE - Anyone using Office 2003 should install the critical
update as soon as possible. From PowerPoint, choose "Help -> Check for
Updates".]

Hello,

PowerPoint does not have the specific capability that you are looking for.
Although some defaults can be customized (such as using the Options dialog)
other defaults (such as Paste format) are built-in and cannot be customized
and require manual or VBA workarounds.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint (really
Office, since this is an Office-wide feature) should provide more control
over various default behaviors, settings, etc. (without have to resort to
VBA or 3rd party add-ins), don't forget to send your feedback (in YOUR OWN
WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions)
