It closes too quickly for me to see the final results. Is there any way to
keep the window open until I close it myself?

Thanks

I am using chkdsk the /f /r options.

It won't do you any good as the command prompt results of running chkdsk
don't show you anything useful. What you want to do is go into Event
Viewer (right click My Computer, select Manage, Event Viewer) click on
Application, and look for an entry in the log where the Source is Winlogon.

By the way, when using the /R switch the /F switch is unnecessary.

Steve

Go to Control Panel > Admin. Tools > Event Viewer > Application > Winlogon
after running Check Disk to see the report.

Run it from a CMD window, not the run window

Start it from the command prompt (Example "chkdsk C:" without the quotes).

I don't believe you can get to the Event Viewer from My Computer.
Don't you have to go to control panel, administration, to get event viewer?

Thanks
On the few occasions when I run chkdsk in preference to a commercial app
like Norton I simply open a cmd window and run it from there. That way the
results stay for as long as I wish.

Thanks to all who responded to my post. I found Jim Macklin's suggestion,
"Run it from a CMD window", to be exactly what I was seeking.

Why don't YOU try it and see?

Beliefs are funny that way. Reading is, too.

"right click My Computer, select Manage, Event Viewer"

Try it yourself and believe.

My error. I was reading "right-click on "my computer" choose "properties"
then "manage"
I just have to get some computer glasses.
