I've a Asus P4V800-X with 120G WD SATA hard drive. Have problem to install
Windows XP as the setup did not detect HD. Checked all connections are
correct.

I had previously installed a Asrock P4VT8 with similar HD. There is an
additional driver that was created in floppy to be use during XP setup. But
the Asus MB did not come with this driver.

Hope someone can offer some advice.

Regards. Robert.

1. Firslty, are you running just one drive or two in a RAID array (RAID
0/1). If you have more than one drive you must ensure that you create your
array before proceeding onto 2.

2. You must have the SATA drivers on a floppy disk, and press F6 when prompt
to load the device drivers so that the windows XP CD-ROM can continue and
install on the desired drive/partition. If you need to get the latest SIL
drivers (verson 40's) from the Silicon Image wesbite.

You install XP on an Asus by booting off the XP CD. You do not use a floppy.
It sounds like the problem is either in your harddrive physical connections
or in the BIOS.

no, he needs the SATA drivers as mentioned in the previous post. They will
be on the motherboard CD but he can also download them from the asus
website, motherboard support section.

Thanks for all your response.

Additional drivers were required and the Asus manual that came with the mb
have no instructions how to get them.

Fortunately I got the drivers from a Asrock mb which have very clear and
simple instructions on their manual how to transfer their drivers from their
CD to a floppy. Their drivers worked for the Asus mb in this situation.

Regards, RL.
