I got a Sony R505 laptop without the docking station (which means no floppy drive and CD drive), and a HP desktop. I'd like to install Win2k Pro. onto the laptop. Can I connect the laptop to the desktop? and how? How can I install the win2k onto the laptop from the desktop? Is it posible? if so, please tell me how?
I have a Cat5 cable, Win2k Pro CD, a NIC on the desktop.
Thank you so much!!!

If you can connect to a network you can share another computers cd rom, then
you will be able to see the cd on the network. just insert the cd-win 2000
disc into the player then go to your laptop an double click on it, it will
install onto your laptop

If both computers have a NIC, you can use a special crossover cable to network them without using a router or hub. I recommend you copy the I386 folder from the CD to the laptop hard drive, then run setup from there. That will be faster and gives you an additional advantage of having the setup files available if you need to add a Windows component or need to repair the installation.
