How to install Norton Antivirus software for below scenario ?

Hi,

I have 2 computers connected to a LAN hub as below:


Desktop PC Notebook computer
1. /w CD-ROM drive 1. /w CD-ROM drive broken
2. /w Norton Antirus installed 2. /w no anti-virus software
installed
\ /
-------------------------------- LAN hub


I tried sharing out CD-ROM drive of desktop pc and calling norton
installation program from notebook computer. The program failed just
after start with error message "Internal error 2889, License_Dialog
ScrollableText".

Then I copied whole Norton Antivirus software from desktop CD drive to
E:\ of notebook and started the installation program from E:\.
Installation failed as before at the same point with same error
message "Internal error 2889, License_Dialog ScrollableText".

I would like to ask why the installation will fail ? Note that I could
continue the installation program when I call it from desktop pc and
I'd used this CD to install Norton Antivirus to the desktop pc.

Could anyone suggest how I can install the software to my notebook ?

My guess would be a virtual CD-rom software (of which many are available)
this would allow you to create an image of your norton anti virus disk then
share it with your Laptop on which you will also have the virtual cd-rom
software then norton should think it is running on a CD-rom on the local
machine (laptop) this may work! (so he says)

Why I couldn't install it by copying all the files/directories to my
notebook local drive e:\ (windows installed at c:\ of the same
notebook) ?
