Oaky i got/found a nice new looking clean and FREE
fujitsu dyna mo optical drive, im asuming this will do
the same job that a zipdisk does. and i want to install
it on my new dell computer, which is running xp home. the
DynaMo directions say to check that a SCSI host adapter
is installed. I looked in device manager i dont see
anything that says SCSI... hmmm.. PLS Advise, do i need
to buy one off Ebay?

Hmm! Did you go to the manufacturers web site to see if the drive is WinXP
compatible!

Sounds like the drive is SCSI and you need to get SCSI controller since such
controllers are not build in to today's computers that are for personal use.
You do not need to get an expensive controller and the controller does not
need to be of the bootable type. Adaptec, Tekram and Qlogic make nice
controllers. The Adaptec is the most popular but also the most expensive. Do
not spend more than $50-$80.
I am not familiar with the Fujitsu dynamo drive so you need to check what
type of connector it has. Common connectors are 50, 68 or 80 pin. Some
controllers may be of one type or another and some have more then one type
of connector.

Yes it works just like a zip drive. You will need either a scsi pci
card, the Adaptec 2906 will work just fine. And yes the drive is XP
compatible. Look at adaptec.com for scsi cards. I bet there are some
you can get on ebay.
