HOW TO INSTALL A PRINTER

I have a lexmark Z25 and would like to know how to install it without the
installation disk. have tried to download the driver but printout is blank

Well, this is pretty basic, but it's the prosaic approach:

Shut down your computer. The, make sure the printer is hooked up to the
computer correctly, and turn it on. Then, boot the computer. Windows
should find the printer and attempt to install it. Windows comes with
"basic" drivers for many printers, and may or may not have them for that
one. If Windows immediately asks for a disc, or to be pointed to
wherever you have the files (which you don't) close out and shut off the
printer.

Go online to the Lexmark website and do a search for your model. I'd be
amazed if you can't find the driver files for it - unless it's very,
very old (like 10 years). Download them. Then repeat the opening
procedure above, and use the drop down box in the install page to bring
up the place where you have downloaded the files to (like your desktop,
for example).

I am not clear what your sentence "have tried to download the driver but
the printout is blank" means.

For the heck of it, I just checked Lexmark's website. They have never
had a "Z25" You sure of that model designation? All kinds of "Z2x"
models, but no Z25.

You do not say which version of Windows you are running. The driver
download page below does not list Vista; it does have Win98 though WinXP
drivers. I do not know if Vista has any compatible drivers, but it does
not seem so.

Their Vista page has the following disclaimer:

"We provide support for legacy products based on consumer demand and the
continued evolution of technology standards. Support for legacy products
is eventually withdrawn as we continue to focus on products with the new
standards."

Which means they may not have the needed driver, and may not ever have it.

A google search for "lexmark z25 vista driver" yielded at least one
possible solution. I assume no responsibility for its usability, I
merely found it by googling it. If anyone can vouch for, or against,
this site please say so.

Thank you for your responce, perhaps i should give more detail, i am on xp
home, i went to lexmarksite, went to drivers and downloads, found the model
number and downloaded it, when it finished downloading i hooked up the
printer the found new plug and play message appeared and the add new hardware
wizard but i then get the message that it wasnt installed properly and may
not work, when trying to print the printer goes through the motions but the
page is blank

You didn't state that you ran the install of the download before
plugging in the printer, just that you downloaded it, then hooked up the
printer. Before the drivers will be found, you probably need to run the
executable you downloaded.

Did you remove the tape before inserting the cartridges? Did you try a
Test Print? Have you ever got print from this device?
 
did you take the tape off
z 25s come with 26 16 ink
step up is 27 17 all bad ink if 3 weeks old
