I'm running Windows XP with SP2 and I want to install a patch to internet
explorer that my spybot program says I need to patch a Windows IE flaw. When
I go to install the patch Windows says I need to install Iinternet Explorer
6, and doesn't run the program to install it. How do I make Windows let me
install patch Q319182 so I don't have that opening for potential worms
and/or viruses in my browser? Thanks in advance, Michael

Hi,

Unfortunately, you don't tell what you try to do to install the patch, and
the error message if you see one.

Did you try to install the patch from http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com ?

Greetings!
I tried double-clicking on the patch labeled Internet Explorer 6 security
update, located on the microsoft download site, and a dialog box appeared
that prompted me to save or run the selected patch. In about a minute in a
half the patch is downloaded then I'm again prompted to run the downloaded
patch. When I click run a box says, " This update requires Internet Explorer
6.0 to be installed.
I already have internet explorer 6 installed on my hard drive, is it
still possible to install the patch? Should I look for other workarounds to
remedy the IE flaw. Thanks sir for your kind reply.
