How to install a graphics filter for Microsoft PowerPoint 2000?

I would need help on how to install a graphics filter for ym Microsoft
PowerPoint 2000 program. Someone told me that you can open any type of image
onto a blank slide but I don't think that's possible. For example, if I
wanted to open a .PNG file, I can't do it and I would need to know what to do
in order to do that. Thanks!!!!

PPT can't actually *open* graphics files, but you can insert graphics files
onto PPT slides. Use Insert/Picture/From File and navigate to your PNG.

You don't need to install a graphic filter to get your PNG images into a
PowerPoint slide.

Assuming you still cannot get it to work using Echo's suggestion of using
Insert | Picture | From File.... option, try choosing the Help | Detect and
Repair option.
