How to increase recording sound volume when using ATI's Recorder?

Has anyone noticed that the sound volume is lower when playing back
ATI's recordings? It is perfect when I watch it live via ATI's VCR
program, but playing back its recording has very low volume. Is there
a way to adjust the audio volume for recording? Line in is already at
its max.

Thank you in advance. :)

Also, TV on Demand has this problem. :(

You've got to go to the volume control, options->properties and set it
to Recording. Then hit Ok, and the Recording controls will be visible.
That line in is what controls the volume of recordings.

Actually in practice, with 8.6 on my Win2K machine with built in sound
on the motherboard, I had to fiddle with both the line in settings to
get a good sound during recording. Too high and I got distortion in
the sound, too low and I got a lot of what sounded like interference.
With 7.7 I didn't have to fiddle around with the controls at all. This
must be a new 8.6 feature, more control over recording levels.

Thanks. I will try that. I noticed it was almost at max. Hopefully,
setting to highest doesn't distort and gives enough.

A follow-up. The volume is still low compared to non-recording TV viewing.
I hate it when my wave files are so much louder than the playback of my
recordings or using TV-on-Demand.

I also tried registry tricks on
http://www.rage3d.com/board/showthread.php?&threadid=33656476 ...

HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / ATI Technologies / MultiMedia / Features / TV / Sound / Record Volume
HKEY_CURRENT_USER / Software / ATI Technologies / MultiMedia / Features / TV / Sound / User RecVol

If User RecVol is set to 0 ATI MMC uses the Record Volume from the registry.
If User RecVol is set to 1 ATI MMC uses the audio recording level you have
set with Windows Volume Control or your sound card's mixer

No changes. Any other suggestions to amplified the line in volume beside
getting hardware? I am using an old SB Live! Platinum card (without its
LiveDrive installed the latest Creative Labs drivers in Windows XP Pro.).

Thank you in advance. :)
