when attempting to import movies from windows media player to sonic my dvd
for the purpose of burning them to dvd I get a message that says "could not
complete the last command because;could not make a thumbnail.Make sure you
have the appropriate decoder installed.(DVDErr,-47010).I have also tried
burning with nero only to have the computer tell me that nero has a known
compatability issue with my version of windows (xp),for an update that is
compatable it tells me to contact ahead software, which I have done, only to be
confused by thier site & not be able to end up finding the so called
compatable update,I have also tried to burn dvd's using Windows Movie
Maker, but when trying to import the video it stops after a little while and
puts up a message that says"The file cannot be imported because the codec
required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have
already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart windows
movie maker, and then try to import the file again." I've tried installing
updated codecs,but nothing works,what am I doing wrong,or what can I upgrade
or update to allow me to burn dvds, hope someone can help, thank you in advance

There is definitely some confusion in your post.
I assume you are trying to ask how to import from Movie Maker into Sonic not
from Media Player because that wouldn't make any sense.

The Sonic problem you are experiencing sounds like a codec problem so
Graham's question stands as to what type of file you are trying to import.

The Nero issue you are having I have never seen before, what version of Nero
are you running?

WMM does not burn directly to DVD unless you have a MCE2005 plug-in and even
then it is using an outside program (Sonic) to burn to DVD. As far as the
codec issue again Graham's question is the one you need to answer for
anybody to be able to help you.

Im experiencing the exact same problems, and would greatly appreciate help. Im not sure of the file type but it does say hdtv-lol.[BT] at the end. And when I try and add it to Sonic MyDVD the pop up says "could not complete the last command because;could not make a thumbnail.Make sure you have the appropriate decoder installed.(DVDErr,-47010)".

I then tried to edit the file in muvee autoproducer, and save a new version that might be compatible with Sonic MyDVD. But when i tried to make a new clip the pop up "failed to properly set up muvee analyzer 3b (80040217).

So I tried to edit the movie in Windows Movie Maker hoping that THEN the file would work in Sonic MyDVD but the warning "The file cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart windows movie maker, and then try to import the file again."

If anyone could suggest a solution?
