How to import iCal file to 2nd Calendar

I have been trying to import an iCal file (or any kind of file, for that
matter) to my Second calendar (not defaut) and the data always end up at my
defaut calendar. The second calendar remains without the data. And now I have
3 duplicates in my defaut calendar.
Any ideas?

One way would be to import them into the default calendar and then move them
to the second one.
 
Thanks for your response. Would I have to move each item separately or there
is an easy way to move the items imported over? Do you know?

Displaying the calendar in a table view may make the newly-added
appointments more apparent. You can then select them all and click
Edit>Copy to Folder.
