how to import database from cd to computer

I have been trying to import a database from my PC to my laptop with no
success. I seem to be getting on the laptop, but then I cannot use it, or it
just will not come up, as I get an error message. I have studied the help,
and the course, and they say to use the transfer file --- I cannot find a
transfer file or an import on or in my access. Can any one help?????
Oh so frustrated.
