Hi, I have Vista nd Office Outlook 2003. I have tried on line help but
whatever I do I cannot import the contacts (which I successfully imported
from my old PC) from the sidebar to the address book in Outlook - anyone got
any suggestions from those previosuly posted?

Hi Russ,

Yes I have read all the instructions and followed them. What I have done so
far is to export the contacts from my old PC - which had Outlook 2003. It
exported them in .WAB format. I then imported them into Vista into the
contacts section. At that stage I got them all to appear OK in the contacts
'gadget' in the sidebar (the vertical bar on the right). Then I followed the
instruction here to get them to show in Outlook but they don't appear. I also
tried to change them all to Vcards and then change Outlook but that didn't
work either. The annoying thing is they are in Vista but I can't get them to
show in Outlook - does that help?

Interestingly your instructions do not fully reflect the menus on Vista.

What do you mean by "from the sidebar to the address book?" Did you read the
instructions on how to configure the Outlook Address Book? They are posted
here every day. If so, state what you did and what happened.

I'm afraid what you claim is not accurate. Outlook 2003 cannot export in WAB
format, so you could not have done that. The Vista gadget can only display
Vista's address book, not Outlook Contacts.
So your question is how to import from Vista's address book into Outlook
2003. If in fact you were using Outlook 2003 before, then you would be far
better off transferring your Outlook data directly by using a PST file and
the methods posted here.
