How do I get "Hibernate" added in between the "Sleep" and "Shutdown" choices
on the right edge of the start menu? TIA, Paul

Right-click desktop
personalize
screen saver
change power settings
change plan settings (active plan)
change advanced power settings
expand sleep
expand allow hybrid sleep
turn off
apply

should be there

Thanks, Sam, but sleep expanded did not offer a hybrid sleep line. I have
vista Home Premium. Maybe it doesn't offer it? If not, it should.

Hello Paul try typing
powercfg.exe /hibernate on
at the command prompt. Use the off switch with the same statement to remove
hibernate. Think it works across versions although I have only Business.

Thanks Chelsea. It says "You do not have permission to enable or disable
the Hibernate feature". I run with administrator privileges.

I have busines and it doesnt work also:

- dont have the option on power settings, as well

- C:\Users\administrator>powercfg.exe /hibernate on
You do not have permission to enable or disable the Hibernate feature.

and at XP and linux it works

This is actually a funny little problem. It's one of three things:

1. Your graphics adaptor doesn't have a driver installed (these days, just
installing Windows and seeing it at 1024x768 or higher doesn't mean that the
graphics adaptor has the driver installed, it happens under XP)
2. Your monitor driver doesn't have a driver installed (reasons are same as
above)
3. Your motherboard driver isn't installed.
