How to have scheduled appointments show up in users calendar's as tentative
appointments even if they have not yet read the message?

Can I write a rule? I can't seem to find the appropriate choices. I need
to know that there is a pending appointment in a users calander. By showing
tentative apointments then others can see what times may or may not be
available.

Which version of outlook? they should be on the calendar as tentative by
default until accepted or declined.

Diane:

We are running 2003 and the appointments are not showing up until a user
reads them. Could this be related to running in chache mode? Like you said,
I thought that they would show up as tentative without any user interaction.

Thanks for any help.
Jeff

No, I'm in cached mode and it works as expected. I'd guess something along
the lines of the udp problem for new mail.

you aren't using rules to move the meeting requests are you? they need to
remain in the inbox.

Same for us, using Outlook 2002 (10.5709.4219)-SP2, with single calendar.
Naturally, you want to consult your calendar first to find out whether you
have been summoned to some meeting scheduled next day. So if the meeting does
not show up on your calendar as tentative because you are drowing in lots of
mails and just had not had a chance to read or preview exactly that
invitation mail hidden in between, you are in trouble.
I hope you can find a fix to this because a workaround to by default let
Outlook acknowledge all meeting requests is not a very prudent solution for
teamwork.
Regards - Robert.

We are also seeing this problem in Outlook 2003 SP1. The meeting request is
sent to the user, but it never shows as Tentative unless the user reads or
previews the message.

I understand there's supposed to be a "sniffer" that runs to add unopened
meetings requests to the calendar as tentative. I can find no information on
this or on how to modify it.

Any information on this would be helpful.
