Dear all,

My company is running win2000 domain. The name of domain is
"ascdc1".
And the workstation are running XP professional.

Now I have a folder shared in my own XP machine. Let my XP
machine name is "computer1". Now I want to grant access to a local
account of another XP machine.(i.e.not the account of domain user, but
local account of their XP machine.) Let the other machine be
"computer2" with user account "user2". I cannot add computer2\user2 to
the permission window. It complains that the object cannot be found in
domain.

Any method to add the account of user of ther machine to the
shared folder. ( I have do google, and found that the mostly suggested
solution is
to create two identical account on both XP machine. But I just want to
permit
the user account of other machine directly in my machie rather than to
create
two identical account)

Thanks.

In an AD structure you cannot use a local account from another computer. But
you can use the computer. To allow access from computer2 enter \\computer2
in the permission of your shared folder.
