I have been having a problem with AFS2K.sys driver so I
uninstalled HP Memories Creator Disk Software which
removed this driver. However, I still cannot get Windows
XP to load my DVD Rom now. I have tried uninstalling the
device, but no luck. Anyone have any suggestions as to
how I can get my DVD Rom working again?

Open Help & Support Center (start - help)
then click on 'video' under the 'pick a topic' title.
follow the desired items.

There is nothing in the Help Section. I would try to
recover the DVD-Rom, but I can't use a CD right now. Any
other suggestions on how I can get my Laptop to recognize
and successfully load my DVD Rom drive???

Remove any CD or DVD drives from Device Manager and reboot.
Run Add New Hardware wizard if it doesn`t auto detect it.
