Hi,

Can somebody tell me how to get a list of installed programs, as in Control
Panels->"Add or Remove Programs"?

I tried looking under
\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

but the list is far too extensive!

Thanks in advance.

That's the right place to look. You probably want consider only those keys
that have a DisplayName associated with them.

Just did a check - thats almost the whole list! Much of that I won't care
about; for example "Microsoft Tool Web Package:NetDiag.exe" or "Windows
Rights Management client"

I tried ignoring those keys with {LONG-UGLY-STRINGS} - but "Microsoft
Office" got missed out.

Any idea how "Control Panels" filter the list?

Regards,
Yee

Check the NoRemove key. If it's 1 or the DisplayName is missing I think it's
not going to show up in the Add or Remove Programs applet.
