I can't either the FAX or the Telephony (phone dialer)
app programs to work. I went through the FAX
configuration step by step and it still doesn't work. The
faxes just sit there 'pending'. With the phone dialer, it
says that something is missing, regsvr32.exe and to enter
this in the command line. What command line? Somehow
these two problems must be interrelated because they both
go through the modem. I don't even use my modem for
anything because I have highspeed cable internet. I don't
understand why this stupid computer and OS cannot do
something as simple as dial a telephone number or send a
document down a telephone line. I'm a human and I can
even dial a telephone number. I went through both of the
articles published on the MicroSoft site pertaining to
enabling and configuring the FAX Service in Windows XP
and it still doesn't work.
I want and need this to work because I have a use for it.
I want the phone dialer to work too.
Honestly, the more that I use Microsoft products, the
more I understand why people are becoming more interested
in systems like LINUX. Microsoft makes clever products,
but they sell them to you and then to get assitance using
their products they want you to pay them, and in truth,
there are very few people who actually know what they are
doing with a computer. I ask people at CompUSA, Office
Depoit, Office Max, etc. who sell and use these products
and often times they will tell someone anything.
Somebody in the world somewhere, has to know how to make
the phonedialer and FAX service on XP work.
