How to get rid of Trojan Generic.dx

The Trojan Generic.dx has infected my laptop. I know because my McAfee
security software keeps telling me they have removed it, but then the trojan
is in fact not deleted. This also keeps me from running MS IE. My
workaround is to use FoxFire. Can anyone tell me how to delete Generic.dx
