Hello!

Needed to reinstall windows on my desktop PC.
I used Win XP Pro again. Only got problems with my LAN:
I have a laptop with Win XP Home (SP2) and my desktop PC with Win XP Pro
(SP2).
At both computers I have the user "JochenCalifice" with admin rights and the
same password. Both PCs work with the same user.
I can use devices of my desktop PC when working at my laptop, no problems.
But when I want to enter my laptop by my desktop PC it tells me that I can't
enter because maybe I don't have the rights for that. Before reinstalling
Win XP Pro on my desktop PC everything worked fine...

A list of facts:

- I can reach my web server running at the laptop without any problems
- I can ping my laptop
- any firewall or antivir software is deactivated
- all folders needed are free to enter and change

Desktop PC:

AMD Sempron 2400
Win XP Pro with SP2

Laptop:

Pentium 2,8 GhZ
Win XP Home with SP2

Perhaps someone could help me. I really need that connection for my work.

Greetz... Jochen

Try this... On your laptop click start.....run....type gpedit.msc
expand Windows Settings. Expand Security Settings. Expand Local
Policies. Select Security Options. Scroll down the right pane until you
see Network Access: Sharing and Security Model for Local Accounts.
Change this from Guest Only to Classic.

Make sure you have a strong password set for the administrator account.
I would also recommend renaming the adminsitrator account. Sounds like
the problem is when you try to access your laptop it is using the
laptops local guest account. By default this account is disabled
resulting in your problem.

Hope this helps
