I understand that you really want to know how to make the connection when
disconnected, but first you have to understand the CAUSE of the
disconnection.
If your notebook does not have a built in wireless, then it is VERY unlikely
to have a switch for the wireless PCI card.
So far you have answered some of the questions, but not enough.
Disconnection could be caused by interference from other wirelesses in the
immediate area (within 50 to 100 feet) or too great a distance between the
base station or members of an ad hoc network.
What kind of wireless PCI card do you have? Does the wireless card have an
applet installed that includes diagnostics? What are the results when you
run the diagnostics?
What kind of base station do you have?
What happens when you try to repair the wireless connection when
disconnected?
More information please, all at the same time, if possible. No one in the
newsgroup can see your setup, so you must provide all the details. In
particular, details when the wireless connection is DISCONNECTED, not when
it is CONNECTED.

| The signal strength varies-even when connected, the last time I checked
| it was 60%

| I use a Dell Inspiron 1150
|
| I haven`t contacted Dell Support about this problem, because the
| computer didn`t come with a wireless card. I have contacted the people
| who installed it and he said something about there might be a switch or
| button on the computer-but I found none.
